Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive. For additional information, contact us by calling 310.392.8610 or use our online request form here. We look forward to serving you. I’m moving and I’m stressed out! How do I find a mover?
First thing you’ll need to do is decide what date you want to move. Remember that the end of the month and anytime during the summer are the busiest times for all moving companies.
Next, talk to your friends and family and get recommendations for a mover. Try to get written estimates from at least three licensed and insured companies (and check the California Public Utilities Commission website to make sure those companies are licensed/insured).
With your estimates in hand, you can compare services and prices and make your final choice. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. A lowball price from a mover could be a red-flag that something is not right.
I have to be out of my house this week! Can you help me?
No problem! We can handle last-minute moves. Just give us a call so we can help you in a timely manner.
Does 123 Moving and Storage provide insurance for my belongings?
Yes. By law, all licensed moving companies must provide basic coverage for loss or damage at 60 cents per pound per item. Additional protection for your goods is available for an extra fee.
How much will it cost for me to move?
Unfortunately, we can’t give you an estimate without visually inspecting your household and the property. We can give you a verbal quote based on our experience, but be advised that this verbal quote is not binding and the hourly rate may change depending on the actual situation on move day (more items than stated, access problems, special handling, etc).
So, how do I get a binding quote?
We’ll need to schedule an on-site inspection with one of our experienced estimators. The visit is free and you will receive a written estimate. This written estimate is binding and contains a “Not-To-Exceed” price.
Should I tell you now that I live in a third-floor apartment and there’s no elevator?
Yes, please let us know if there are any access issues, like stairs, elevators, long or narrow hallways, tight corners, small doorways, permit parking, or anything else out of the ordinary. Access problems could cause a job to take longer than expected.
I have a piano/refrigerator/big-screen television/something else that requires special handling. Can you move these items?
We sure can. Let us know so we’re prepared and can bring the right equipment.
Can you give me an estimate over the phone or by email?
Technically, no. By law, moving companies can only quote you an hourly rate for moving, not an exact estimate, without doing an on-site inspection.
Does 123 Moving and Storage have any references?
We can provide you with a list of references to check. We’re also listed on Yelp, What are your payment terms?
We accept cash, check or credit card at the end of the move.
